Usually by the time a baby is six months old he has neck muscles strong enough to help him hold his head up and also turn his head from side to side. A few things that you can do to help him develop head control are by giving him tummy time. Place toys that your baby likes in front of him this will aid your baby's mobility as he will try and reach for them. It will help in strengthening the baby's arms, legs, torso and also his neck muscles. You could also engage your baby in little games by making him lie on his back and pulling him up gently by his arms as you make silly faces. Very rarely there maybe a head lag in babies where the neck muscles are weak and cannot support the head which can happen because of low birth weight or preterm birth. There is no harm in once consulting your baby's doctor regarding his milestones.
