Baby says this week
I'm learning just how much I can handle. I've discovered that I can hang onto an item in each hand and I can even tuck one under my arm to pick up a third.

Your baby is watching everything you do right now, take that as both a compliment and a warning.
Toddlers love to copy, and the people they copy most are their parents. You may see your little one trying to brush their hair, wiping the table with their bib, pressing buttons on your phone, or putting on your sunglasses. Words and tone of voice will follow. It's a big clue that now is the time to watch what you do and say around them.
Things that sometimes help- Use mimicry to teach small daily things, saying "hello" and "bye-bye", rolling a ball back and forth, patting the head for "namaste".
- Let your baby "help" with small tasks, passing you a spoon, carrying a light object from room to room.
- Do exaggerated versions of what you want them to copy. Big smile. Big wave. Slow and clear words.
- At this age, your baby is starting to have big feelings with very few words to express them, so, yes, the first real tantrums can show up now. Stubbornness, a sudden meltdown when they don't get a toy, or a full floor-drop in public are all normal.
- Stay calm, your baby is looking at your face to know how scared to be
- Get down to their level and name the feeling. "You are really upset. You wanted that."
- Keep them safe, but don't try to reason mid-meltdown, wait it out
- Offer a cuddle once the wave passes
- Avoid giving in just to stop the noise, it tends to make tantrums more frequent
Hang in there. You're doing great.
Being the person your child copies most is both a compliment and a responsibility, and you carry it with more grace than you realise. This mirroring stage of baby development means your kindness is being studied and stored. The love you model today will echo in how they treat the world.

Fifty-one weeks. One week to your baby's first birthday.
Looking back, and forward
- The first birthday is partly a baby milestone and partly your milestone. You have done 51 weeks of round-the-clock care. That is the work of someone running a small lifeline.
Things worth doing in the next week
- Print a photo. The good ones get lost in the camera roll.
- Write 3 lines about this year. A short note to yourself, or to your child, that you can read in 5 years.
- Call the people who showed up. A grandparent, a friend, a sister. Acknowledge them.
- Schedule your own follow-up visits, gynae, dental, eye check, for the next 4 weeks.
Eating well
- Carry on the pattern. Three meals + two snacks. Iron + calcium daily. Stay hydrated.
The first-birthday week
- If a celebration is happening, divide the load. You should not be running a kitchen and hosting a party while still doing all the baby care. Let family or a small caterer take charge.
Indian rituals in the first-birthday week
- Mundan, nāmkaraṇ revisits, annaprashan extended, first haircut at the temple, every family has different traditions. Whatever you choose to honour or skip is fine. The traditions are for you and your child, not for the relatives' approval.
Worth flagging
- If you find yourself crying often this week, that is normal, first-birthday emotions for mums are real. But if the crying is accompanied by hopelessness or scary thoughts, call your gynae or a therapist.
A small ritual for you
- Write a short note to yourself in the next week, 3 sentences about what was hardest this year, what was best, and one thing you want to carry forward. Tuck it in your diary or a phone note. Read it again at the 2-year mark.
This week, while you plan the celebration, plan one small thing purely for you as well. Booking your own checkups and writing that three-line note are acts of postpartum self care that honour the year you have lived. The birthday marks their first year; it quietly marks your becoming, too.
Your Care Essentials

By week 51, with photos and family events for the first birthday coming up, baby skin needs to look soft and even. A non-greasy lotion with shea butter and milk protein locks moisture for 24 hours. Daily post-bath. Combines well with traditional coconut-oil malish for double care. Try Mylo Baby Lotion that:
- Shea, Cocoa + Milk Protein.
- Daily 24-Hour Hydration.
- Locks In Moisture All Day.
Readying your baby for the big day, soft cheeks and combed wisps of hair, is a love language of its own. In the whirl of birthday planning, keep one quiet cup of chai for yourself. The hands doing all this preparing deserve a still moment too.

Week 51: almost one year in, and your hair is closer to its old self. The new growth needs softer care than your pre-pregnancy bottle. An onion-based conditioner with bhringraj-amla keeps regrowth strong and reduces breakage at the ends. Use after every wash. Try Mylo Onion Hair Conditioner that:
- Reduces Breakage at Ends.
- Onion-Bhringraj Blend.
- Soft, Silicone-Free Finish.
Nearly a year on, the new softness in your hair mirrors something gentler returning in you. Washing, conditioning, taking those extra two minutes: small ceremonies of coming back to yourself. You are allowed to enjoy them without a single ounce of guilt.

Your Baby's Vision
Almost adult clear. Your baby can tell a thin cotton thread from a small toy, that's how sharp things have got this week. See the comparison below.
Try This : Show them a thread and a small toy together. Watch them reach for the toy first now.
