Week 46
Your baby is 11 months old
Baby says this week
My personality is really blossoming now. I'm developing my own opinions and am not shy about expressing my preferences for people and activities. If diaper changes are becoming wrestling matches, keep in mind that I'm flexing my newfound independence, a positive step in development.
Your Baby's Development
2 min read
Your baby loves your approval right now, and loves helping you with little "jobs" around the house.
Real responsibility is still a long way off, but copying you is how good habits start. Turn a chore into a game and your baby will be thrilled to be part of it.
Things that sometimes help- Fold clean clothes together, let your baby hand you socks, or match two socks up
- Let your baby help sort spoons from the tray (nothing sharp)
- Race to put toys back in the basket, who can pop more in?
- Watering plants with a small mug, sweeping with a small broom, anything where they can copy you safely
Keep it short, keep it playful, and don't mind if your baby helps one day and wants nothing to do with it the next. That's how toddlers work.
Teeth and brushing- Now that your baby is on solid food, oral care matters more than ever. Brush twice a day with a soft baby toothbrush and a rice-grain-sized smear of fluoride toothpaste. Wipe the tongue gently with a clean damp cloth or a baby tongue-cleaner, especially in the morning.
- Lay your baby on your lap with their head resting back
- Lift the upper lip and brush the gum line, this is where early cavities show up
- Let your baby hold a second toothbrush while you use the real one
- Sing a short brushing song, same one every time
Skip juice and sweetened drinks in a bottle, if juice at all, dilute it heavily and give it in a cup.
Call the pediatrician- If your baby refuses feeds for more than two in a row, vomits forcefully after every feed, has fewer than 6 wet nappies in 24 hours, or is unusually drowsy, call the doctor.
Every sock matched and spoon sorted may look like play, but to your little one it is proud, important work. This everyday copying is baby development in its warmest form, learning life by your side. What a gift it is that you are the person they most want to be like.
Your Health & Lifestyle

Forty-six weeks. Around 11 months. Your baby is involving themselves in your routines, wanting to "help" with everything.
Domestic involvement is good for everyone
- Letting your toddler "help", passing you a spoon, putting laundry in the basket, sweeping a small corner, builds independence and slows you down in helpful ways. It also models that household work is shared, not gendered.
A note for joint families
- In some Indian households, household tasks are firmly gendered. Letting your toddler, boy or girl, see all family members participate (papa cooking, dadi watering plants, you fixing something) shapes their lifelong assumptions about who does what.
Eating well
- Three meals + two snacks. The Indian basics, bajra, ragi, palak, methi, paneer, dal, curd, still cover most needs. Add a daily walk for digestion and mood.
Mum's oral health
- Many postpartum mums neglect their own dental visits during the baby year. Pregnancy and postpartum hormones can worsen gum sensitivity and cavity risk. If it has been more than 18 months since a dental cleaning, book one. Your gums and teeth deserve attention too.
Looking ahead
The 12-month mark is just over a month away. Common transitions in this window:
- Cow's milk for the baby (full-fat, post-12 months)
- Dropping the bottle gradually
- Reducing breastfeeding sessions if you are weaning
Worth flagging
- Unusual bleeding from the gums, a sore that does not heal, or a tooth that is suddenly sensitive, book a dentist visit. Hormonal shifts can mask real dental issues.
Indian-mum subtle note
- If household roles in your home still default along gender lines (mum cooks, papa earns, dadi watches), your toddler is watching. You don't need to make a project of it, just letting them see all caregivers do all kinds of work shapes their lifelong assumptions about who does what.
In a home where everyone pitches in, make sure your own rest is on the list too. Your postpartum recovery is still quietly unfolding, even this far in, and it deserves attention without guilt. A steadier, cared-for you is the best gift this house can have.
Essentials for Your Journey

By week 46, mosquitoes don't disappear in winter: they hide indoors, bite at dawn and dusk. DEET-free citronella + eucalyptus patches stick on the cot, pram, or clothes (not skin), last 8 hours, and are safe from 3 months+. Useful at relatives' homes where mosquito coils may be too strong. Try Mylo Mosquito Patches that:
- Citronella, Lemongrass + Eucalyptus.
- 8-Hour Repellent Patch.
- Stick Where Mosquitoes Hover.
Keeping your little one protected is something you do in a hundred small, invisible ways every day. Give yourself credit for all that quiet watchfulness. And while you guard their comfort, allow yourself some ease and rest as well.

Gentle Baby Wipes With Lid (Pack of 2) + Mosquito Patches (Pack of 24)

Week 46: chapped lips, dry hand patches, and itchy underbreast skin are common in winter. Pure organic aloe vera gel calms, hydrates, and is a multi-use saviour: lips, face, dry patches, even baby's eczema flares (with paediatrician's nod). Pairs with traditional haldi remedies for bites or scrapes. Try Mylo Aloe Vera Gel that:
- Pure Organic Aloe Gel.
- Cools Sun-Stressed Skin.
- Non-Comedogenic, Mom-Safe.
Winter can be rough on your skin, and it deserves the same gentleness you give your baby every day. A small ritual of care, even two minutes, is a way of saying you matter. Your comfort is part of the family's happiness too.
