45 Week Old Baby: Your Baby's Development and Your Recovery This Week
Your baby is 45 weeks old (11 months). Reading together is one of the loveliest parts of this stage, and one of the best for language. For you, forty-five weeks postpartum. Here is your week, tracked.
Week 45
Your baby is 11 months old
Baby says this week
By now, I prefer feeding myself and might even grab the spoon from you during mealtimes. This practice helps me master fine motor skills. Allow me to do this often even if I'm messy.
Your Baby's Development

Reading together is one of the loveliest parts of this stage, and one of the best for language.
Sturdy board books and plastic bath books let your baby turn the pages, chew the corners and feel in control of storytime. Books with big clear pictures, textures to touch, flaps to lift or animals to name are perfect right now. You don't need a big library, the same five books read hundreds of times are doing real work.
Things that sometimes help- Point to each picture and name it. "That's a dog. Dog says woof."
- Put on different voices for different characters, silly is great.
- Let your baby turn the pages, even if you go out of order or skip straight to the end.
- Ask simple questions. "Where's the moon?" and wait.
- Read the same book at the same time every day (bedtime is classic).
- Check if there's a local children's library or toy library in your area
- Second-hand bookshops and online swaps are great for board books
- Wipe second-hand books with a damp cloth before passing them on to your baby
- Ask family and friends to gift books instead of more plastic toys at birthdays
- First attempts at real words
- Pointing at pictures in books, big language milestone
- Pulling up and cruising, some early steps
- Understanding simple instructions like "give it to mama"
Really, every story counts.
Indian-home sleep cue- Many Indian families share a room, and that is fine for the first 6 months, in fact protective against SIDS. Keep your baby on their own firm flat surface (not in your bed), and a soft lori (lullaby) works the same magic in any home.
The same five books, read again and again in your voice, are doing quiet wonders. So much of baby development happens in these soft, repeated moments on your lap. Your voice is the sound your little one will carry inside them for life.
Your Health & Lifestyle

Forty-five weeks postpartum. Around 11 months. You are 4 weeks from the 1-year mark. The chaos is starting to feel familiar, that's a real shift.
Reading to your baby
- Reading from the early months wires up later language strongly. Indian board books in your home language (Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Gujarati) are widely available now and worth investing in. Bilingual or trilingual reading is healthy, not confusing.
Mum's reading time too
- A few minutes of reading something for yourself, a magazine, a novel, a non-fiction book, every day calms a tired mind. Phone reading does not have the same effect.
Eating well
- By 11 months, a healthy Indian thali, dal, 2 sabzis, roti, rice, dahi, covers most nutrient needs. Add a fruit and a glass of milk between meals and you are well-fueled.
A note on iron at 11 months
- Some mums see iron levels drop again as breastfeeding extends and periods return. Worth a CBC + ferritin re-check at the gynae.
Looking ahead, the 1-year mark
- Book the baby's 12-month pediatrician visit
- Plan the cow's milk transition (after 12 months only, full-fat, around 400–500 ml/day)
- Iron deficiency screen for the baby is recommended around 12 months
- Your own annual gynae visit if you haven't booked it
Worth flagging
- Persistent low energy at 11 months is rarely just "mum-tired", anaemia, thyroid, Vit D, B12, or untreated PPD/PPA are common culprits. All testable and treatable.
Small Indian-tradition rituals worth doing
- Many Indian families mark milestones with small rituals, a havan at home, a temple visit, a sweet to share with neighbours, a brief puja. They are not religious obligations; they are emotional anchors that mark the passage of time. Whatever fits your beliefs is right for you.
Four weeks from the first birthday, take a moment to look back at how far you have come. Caring for your diet after delivery, your rest, and your checkups is how you carry your strength into year two. You have built this rhythm one tired, loving day at a time, and it shows.
Your Care Essentials

By week 45, with winter outings, sticky meals, and runny noses, you reach for wipes faster than tissues. 99% water + plant-fibre wipes (no alcohol, no fragrance) clean without irritating cold-cracked baby skin. Multi-use: high chair after dal-rice, hands after mango. Try Mylo Plant-Based Baby Wipes that:
- 99% Water, No Alcohol.
- Plant-Fibre, No Alcohol.
- Daily Cleanup Multi-Use.
Sticky hands and messy trays are the signs of a full, happy day. As you wipe up one more little spill, know that these ordinary moments are the real story of this year. Be as gentle with yourself as you are with every small cleanup.

Week 45: winter brings joint stiffness, especially in postpartum knees and lower back. A weekly warm-oil malish with a pregnancy-safe Ayurvedic blend loosens stiff muscles and improves circulation. Use warm, after a hot shower, for 10 minutes. Try Mylo Postpartum Massage Oil that:
- Sesame + Almond + Bhringraj.
- Eases Stiff Shoulders.
- Weekly Body-Reset Ritual.
Your body has carried you through many long days and nights, and it deserves warmth in return. A few unhurried minutes with warm oil can feel like coming home to yourself. Care like this is not indulgence; it is how you keep going.
