43 Week Old Baby: Your Baby's Development and Your Recovery This Week
Your baby is 43 weeks old (10 months). It's wild how fast your baby is growing, it really does feel like the weeks are flying. For you, forty-three weeks postpartum. Here is your week, tracked.
Week 43
Your baby is 10 months old
Baby says this week
Out of sight, but not out of mind, I now know that objects exist even when I can't see them. I'll look under blankets for my misplaced book, or play games by dropping a toy in a container, then turning it upside down. Reinforce object permanence by hiding a toy under a cup and let me find it.

It's wild how fast your baby is growing, it really does feel like the weeks are flying.
The time you spend talking, reading and playing with your baby is fuelling a huge burst of learning right now. Your baby is picking up how to react to new situations, how to respond when you leave the room, and how to get your attention when they want something.
Things to keep an eye on this week- Waving "bye-bye" and "ta-ta"
- Feeling uncomfortable or shy around new people
- Separation anxiety, crying when you leave, even for a minute. This peaks between 8 and 14 months and is a healthy sign of attachment.
- Copying small gestures, like patting a head or covering the eyes for peek-a-boo
- Always say goodbye, sneaking away makes it worse, not better
- Keep goodbyes short and cheerful
- Leave a favourite soft toy or blanket with your baby
- A predictable return routine, same game or song when you come back, helps build trust
Your baby needs small, nutritious snacks between meals at this age, their stomach is still tiny, but energy needs are high. Simple options you can put together from what's in the kitchen:
- Small pieces of soft fruit or steamed vegetable
- A small bowl of curd (full-fat)
- Soft besan chilla, small cubes of paneer
- Soaked-and-soft raisins or small pieces of date (no whole dried fruit)
- Ragi or millet porridge
Skip added salt, added sugar, honey, and whole nuts until after the first birthday.
Vision check worth flagging- A steady squint past 4 months, eyes that do not track moving things, a white reflection in flash photos, or pupils that do not react to light, get an eye check.
Those tearful goodbyes are hard on your heart, but they speak of a bond built beautifully. In baby development, this clinginess is really trust wearing its loudest clothes. You are the safe place your baby measures the whole world against.
Your Health & Lifestyle

Forty-three weeks postpartum. Around 10 months. Your baby's first steps are likely in the next 8 weeks.
Your body for the next leg
Walking babies need lots of bending, lifting, chasing. Your back, knees and pelvic floor will all be tested. A few things that help:
- Squat to pick up baby instead of bending, protects the back.
- Strengthen your core slowly, once diastasis is closed and pelvic floor is stable.
- Wear a supportive bra, milk supply may still be heavy and breasts need help.
- Footwear with arch support, flat chappals all day take a toll on knees.
Indian-context kitchen note
- A lot of Indian housework is done at floor level, sitting cross-legged for chopping, sweeping, cleaning. By 10 months postpartum, this can aggravate hips, knees and back. A small chowki or low stool for chopping, a long-handled jhadu or vacuum for sweeping, and chair-level kitchen tasks where possible save your joints.
Eating well, ongoing
- A balanced thali at lunch, dal, sabzi, dahi, roti, chawal, is a complete meal. Don't underrate the everyday Indian thali; it is more nutritionally complete than most fad diets.
Worth flagging
- Persistent lower back pain, sciatica (pain radiating down a leg), or numbness in fingers, talk to your gynae or a physiotherapist. Postpartum musculoskeletal issues from carrying a baby are real and treatable, but not by toughing it out for another year.
Indian-tradition tip for back care
- A weekly oil massage with warm sesame, mustard or coconut oil, applied by yourself or by family for 10–15 minutes, eases sore back and shoulder muscles. Not a replacement for physiotherapy where needed, but a real comfort that costs nothing.
Your back, knees, and arms have done heroic work this year, and they deserve gentleness. Small changes at home are part of postpartum recovery too, not just doctor visits. Look after the body that lifts, rocks, and carries so much love every day.
Support You’ll Love Right Now

By week 43, baths last 15 minutes: splashing, sitting, banging toys. A foldable Indian-bathroom-friendly tub with anti-slip base, sit-up backrest, and temperature dot keeps bath time fun and safe. Folds flat, fits behind the door. Try Mylo Foldable Bathtub that:
- Anti-Slip Base, Sit-Safe.
- Built-In Temperature Sensor.
- Folds Flat, Saves Space.
Splashy baths that end in giggles are little celebrations of how far your baby has come. Enjoy the laughter, and let someone else handle the mopping when you can. Moments of play like these are for you to soak in too.

Week 43: melasma patches from pregnancy continue to fade slowly. A turmeric + saffron + besan ubtan face wash clears dullness, brightens the cheeks gently, and is safe through nursing. Morning and evening, with cool water. Try Mylo Ubtan Face Wash that:
- Fades Pregnancy Pigmentation.
- Turmeric + Saffron Blend.
- Sulphate-Free, Nursing-Safe.
Your face has seen many tired mornings and many joyful ones this year. A gentle skincare pause is a way to greet yourself in the mirror with kindness. You deserve the same tenderness you pour into everyone else.
