35 Week Old Baby: Your Baby's Development and Your Recovery This Week
Your baby is 35 weeks old (9 months). Somewhere in the next couple of months, your baby is likely to pull up and start cruising along the furniture, slow down and enjoy it. For you, thirty-five weeks postpartum. Here is your week, tracked.
Week 35
Your baby is 9 months old
Baby says this week
I can string syllables together and place different consonants with vowels. I may comprehend common words like "ball" and "bottle." Satisfy my thirst for knowledge by reading lots of baby books and labeling things for me. I'm taking in every word!

Somewhere in the next couple of months, your baby is likely to pull up and start cruising along the furniture, slow down and enjoy it.
Your baby won't need shoes until they're walking around outside regularly. Growing feet need room to flex, spread and grip. Tight socks or shoes squeeze the toes and can't help the arches develop properly.
Things that sometimes help- Let your baby go barefoot indoors as much as possible. It strengthens leg muscles and foot arches, and the soles feel every texture, which helps balance.
- If the floor is cold, use non-slip socks with rubber grip on the soles, plain socks are slippery and make falls more likely.
- Give your baby safe, sturdy things to pull up on, a solid sofa, a heavy coffee table, a stable activity cube. Skip furniture that tips easily.
- Resist push-along walkers with wheels and a seat, they're linked to more falls and don't actually help babies learn to walk.
- Falls are part of learning to walk. A soft rug under the main cruising zone, and moving low tables with sharp corners out of the way, both help. Check stair gates are still in good shape.
- After a fall, watch for vomiting, being very limp or hard to wake, a big soft swelling on the head, or a fall from more than your baby's own height. If any of these show up, call the doctor right away.
- A steady squint past 4 months, eyes that do not track moving things, a white reflection in flash photos, or pupils that do not react to light, get an eye check.
Bare little feet gripping the floor are getting ready for their big journey. Cruising along the sofa is one of those 9 month old baby milestones that turns your living room into a training ground. Slow down and enjoy the wobbles; walking will come soon enough.

Thirty-five weeks postpartum. Around 8 months. The baby year is more than half done. The mum-tired is real but the rhythm is more familiar now.
Reconnecting with your old self, slowly
The you-from-before is not gone, she's wedged under sleep deprivation and feed schedules. Things that help bring her back:
- A 30-minute window once a week for something she loved, reading, painting, dancing, calling a friend, watching a film.
- Wear something that feels like you, not just convenient. A lipstick, a pair of earrings, a saree if you love sarees.
- Step out of the house alone for an errand sometimes, even a 20-minute trip to the chemist.
Body, what's still healing
- Even at 8 months, your body is still doing recovery work, especially if breastfeeding. Pelvic floor, abdominal wall, hormones, hair, sleep, none are at "normal" yet.
Indian-mum wisdom
- Old Indian advice, eat warm, eat with ghee, oil-massage, rest in the afternoon, is not just sentimental. It is rooted in real recovery support. Modern medicine has caught up to most of it. Take what works for you.
Eating well
- Three meals + two snacks. Iron-rich daily (palak, methi, bajra, jaggery). Calcium daily (curd, paneer, sesame). Vitamin D and Omega-3 if tested low.
Worth flagging
- Hair fall that is still dramatic at 8 months, persistent fatigue, dry skin, weight changes, or feeling cold all the time, ask your gynae for a thyroid (TSH) test. Postpartum thyroiditis is common and very treatable.
A note on small joys
- When the year feels heavy, it helps to track tiny good moments, your baby's laugh, a hot cup of chai, a kind text from a friend. Not for social media; for yourself. A small notebook or a notes app entry. Three good things a day, every day, retrains the brain to notice them.
The saree you love, the friend you miss, the book left half-read, they are all still waiting for you. Reaching for them is postpartum self care in its truest form, remembering the woman inside the mother. She and the mum are the same wonderful person.
Picked for Your Journey

Around week 35, your baby has tried 30+ new foods and the tummy occasionally protests with gas, fussiness, or pulled-up legs. A hing + saunf + ajwain roll-on warms the belly and eases trapped wind safely. Roll clockwise around the navel before naps. Try Mylo Tummy Roll-On that:
- Hing, Saunf + Ajwain Mix.
- Eases Toddler Tummy Upset.
- Quick Clockwise Belly Rub.
A gassy, fussy evening can undo even the calmest mum, and still you soothe with steady hands. Those slow clockwise circles are little circles of comfort only a mother's touch can give. When baby settles, let yourself settle too.

Eight months in, your stretch marks are well into the fade phase. A bio-oil-style blend with rosehip, vitamin E, and almond keeps elasticity up through the long lighten. Twice daily on belly, hips, breasts, thighs. A pump bottle is easier with one free hand. Try Mylo Stretch Marks Oil that:
- Cold-Pressed Almond + Rosehip.
- Long-Game Mark Care.
- 30 Seconds, Twice Daily.
Thirty seconds of oil, twice a day, can double as thirty seconds of quiet. Your skin carries the map of an extraordinary year. Tend to it with pride, not apology.
