Baby says this week
This week, my favorite experiment is putting everything into my mouth. I'm also conducting some new tests, like dropping my toys to the ground and comparing the different sounds they make.
Your Baby's Development

2 min read
Babbling is in full swing, "ba", "ma", "ga", and maybe two-syllable runs like "baba" or "gaga". Your baby isn't saying words yet, but this is the groundwork for real speech.
Chat back, even nonsense exchanges help. If your baby says "baa", you can say "yes, the sheep says baa". Respond to whatever sound they make, and turn it into a little conversation. Taking turns is how they learn language.
Solids start next week, getting readyIn a week or so, you'll be offering first solid food. Before you start, check the readiness signs:
- Sits up with support, holds head steady.
- Watches you eat with real interest, reaches for your plate.
- Doesn't push food out with the tongue anymore.
- Opens mouth when a spoon is near.
- Soft, mashed options: dal paani, rice-dal mix, mashed banana, stewed apple, ragi porridge, khichdi, plain curd. Start with just 1 to 2 teaspoons, once a day. Everything else still comes from breastmilk or formula.
- You'll be introducing small amounts of peanut, egg, dairy, wheat and fish too, early and safe. One new food every 2 to 3 days, in the morning, so you can watch for any reaction.
- If your baby does not startle at loud sounds, does not turn towards your voice from across the room, or stops babbling, flag at the next pediatrician visit.
Every babble you answer tells your baby that their voice matters, a belief that will outlast childhood. These back-and-forth conversations are the soft engine of baby development, and you are their favourite person to talk to. Chat on; someone is listening with their whole heart.
Your Health & Lifestyle

Twenty-two weeks. Sleep deprivation has been chronic for almost 6 months. Your body is paying a real cost. Time to take it seriously.
Sleep-train yourself before you sleep-train baby
- Even when the baby goes longer stretches, your body has forgotten how to fall asleep fast. Things that help reset:
- Phone away 30–45 minutes before bed. Light from screens delays the sleep hormone.
- No chai or coffee after 2 pm. Caffeine has a 6-hour half-life, that 4 pm cup is still in your system at midnight.
- A wind-down routine: warm shower, light supper, a few pages of a book, foot massage with warm oil. Do it for 14 nights and your body learns the cue.
- Cool, dark, quiet room. A small fan or AC, blackout curtains, no TV.
About the baby's sleep
- Around 6 months, many babies can do a 5–7 hour stretch at night with one feed. Some take longer. Sleep training is a personal choice, Indian mums often sleep-feed in the same bed (safely, not on a soft surface) which works for many families. Whatever fits your home.
Worth flagging
- Loud snoring, gasping, or breathing pauses in your own sleep, possible postpartum sleep apnea, worth checking with your gynae. Also flag if exhaustion is so severe you are dropping things, missing turns while driving, or losing words mid-sentence, past a point, exhaustion this deep deserves a medical check, not just more chai.
One last sleep tip
- The nights you cannot sleep, do not lie there scrolling. Get up, do something boring (fold laundry, stare out the window, sip warm milk), and try again in 20 minutes. Lying in bed awake teaches your brain that bed is for being awake, exactly the opposite of what you want.
Sleep is not a reward you must earn; it is the ground your whole postpartum recovery stands on. Let the wind-down ritual be a promise you keep to yourself, night after imperfect night. Even rest that comes in pieces is still rest, and you deserve every minute of it.
Essentials for Your Journey

Around week 22, your baby's skin moves between AC indoors and dusty outdoors: patchy dryness on cheeks, knees, and ankles is common. A non-greasy lotion with shea butter and milk protein locks moisture for 24 hours; safe daily post-bath. Locks moisture for the Indian climate swing (AC vs outdoor sun). Try Mylo Baby Lotion that:
- Milk Protein + Shea Butter.
- Locks In Daily Moisture.
- Non-Greasy, Daily Post-Bath.
Soft cheeks, smooth knees, that after-bath baby smell: some of motherhood's simplest riches. As you smooth lotion into those little limbs each evening, let the ritual slow you down as well; these unhurried minutes are as good for you as they are for the baby.

By week 22, peak fall is easing and the new baby hair is starting to push through (fine, fluffy, baby-soft). Continued nourishment helps the regrowth come in stronger. Twice-weekly onion + bhringraj massage, leave on 30 minutes before wash. Try Mylo Onion Hair Oil that:
- Onion + Amla + Bhringraj.
- Strengthens New Regrowth.
- Twice A Week, 30-Min Leave-On.
Standing at the mirror, you may only see what fell; look closer and you will find what is returning. Your body is quietly mending in a dozen unseen ways, and every soft new strand is proof that this season, too, is turning.

Your Baby's Vision
Vision's clearer, but not adult clear yet. Think glasses removed, slightly soft and dreamy. Your face is sharper than it used to be. You'll see the difference below.
Try This : Hold up a photo of a familiar face. They'll recognise it from closer than you'd think.
