Week 155
Your baby is 3 years old
Baby says this week
I have a hard time when it comes to being separate from you. I may at times insist on independence but I want stay close to you and want you to take care of me always. I may miss your presence when you leave me in between.
Your Toddler's Development

"I do it." "Me." "No, mama, I want to." These are the anthems of almost-3.
At around 36 months, your toddler insists on doing things independently, even things they are not quite able to do yet. Buckling their own car seat. Pouring their own cereal. Putting the key in the lock. The battle for independence is in full swing, and it is a good thing, even when it makes your morning run 15 minutes late.
Making space for independence- Leave extra time, 15 minutes earlier means the shoes can go on the wrong feet
- Offer help before you give it: "Do you want to try first or should I help?"
- Let them make mistakes that do not matter (sock inside out, yes; no seat belt, no)
- Keep "things they can do alone" visible and reachable
- Say yes to more small experiments, pouring their own water, carrying their own plate
Insisting on independence around roads, stairs, water, hot things, here you hold the line without apology:
- "I know you want to walk yourself. In the parking lot I hold your hand."
- "You can pour your own water. The tea is too hot, I will pour that one."
They will protest. You stay calm. The rule stays.
The long view- Every time you step back and let your toddler try something, even clumsily, you are telling them "you can do hard things". That belief carries them into school, friendships, and every new challenge for the rest of their life. Messy floors and slow mornings are a small price.
Every insistent little "I do it" is proof of the safety you built; children only push for independence when love has made the ground steady. This stubborn streak is toddler development doing exactly what it should. Through slow mornings and wrong-footed shoes, your patience is the quiet hero of it all.
Your Health & Lifestyle

Around 41.5 months. Your toddler insists on doing things their way. Independence at year 3 is fierce.
What's happening for you
- Pick-your-battles is the year-3 mum mantra. Rules that matter: safety, kindness, sleep, basic nutrition. Rules that don't: which sock first, which spoon, what colour cup.
Things that often help
- Two choices, not open-ended
- Let go of small preferences
- Stay firm on the things that matter
- Build trust by being predictable
For mum's mindset
- Year-3 mum is a different person from year-0 mum. More patient with the right things, less patient with nonsense. Notice the growth.
Eating well
- Three meals + two snacks.
Worth flagging
- If you find yourself losing your temper at small preferences, or constantly negotiating tiny things, that's exhaustion. Build in real recovery: real meals, real sleep, daily movement, weekly social/solo time.
Indian-context note
- Indian families sometimes have multiple adults indulging different toddler preferences. Unified rules across adults help. A monthly family meeting (you, partner, in-laws if relevant) on key boundaries prevents toddler from playing one against another.
Indian-tradition tip
- A weekly "off-duty" half-day, toddler with grandparents or partner, you completely off, is one of the best Indian-mum traditions to reclaim. Multi-generational care has built this in for centuries. Use it.
Indian-mum reminder
- You are not just a mum. You are still a daughter, sister, friend, worker, soul. Tending to those parts of you protects you from full identity merger. Year 3 is a good moment to rebuild the non-mum parts.
Somewhere in year three, you became a mum who knows which battles matter, and that wisdom was earned one long day at a time. Letting the small stuff go is its own kind of mother self care. Be as gentle with yourself as you have learnt to be with the sock-and-spoon negotiations.
Picked for Your Journey

By week 155, with thicker winter clothes and longer nighttime nappies, the bum sweats and rashes occasionally show up. A thin layer of cold-pressed coconut oil at every change calms the skin: antibacterial, soothing, safe. Indian dadi's nappy-rash fix, refined into a clean cold-pressed bottle. Try Mylo Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil that:
- Soothes Late Nighttime Rash.
- Antibacterial Indian Tradition.
- 100% Pure, Cold-Pressed.
There is something tender about a dadi's remedy finding its way into your baby's routine, love travelling down the generations through your hands. Every quiet nappy change is one of a thousand small kindnesses nobody counts. Let a little of that gentleness circle back to you at the end of the day.

Pregnancy Massage Oil + Coconut Oil - 200 ml each

Week 155: weekly onion + bhringraj massage keeps the scalp cool and the regrowth steady. 30 minutes before wash, finger-tip massage. A quiet self-care window. Try Mylo Onion Hair Oil that:
- Indian Onion + Bhringraj Mix.
- Eases Itchy, Dry Scalp.
- Finger-Massage 5 Minutes.
Half an hour with warm oil and no one calling your name is a small homecoming to yourself. The same hands that soothe everyone else deserve to slow down and soothe you too. Guard this little window of the week like the treasure it is.

Activity This Week: Conversation Practice

2 min read
Focused 5–10 minute back-and-forth chat. By 36 months, toddler can hold a brief conversation.
How to do itSit facing toddler. "Tell me about your day. What did you eat? Who came to play?" Listen. Wait for full answer. Reply.
What it builds- Conversation skill, attention, listening, language depth.
- Use home language. Indian families often have rich extended-family conversations, toddler picks up the rhythm.
- At the 3-year well-visit, mention any speech, motor, behaviour or social concerns. Early input works better than late.
- Bedtime, mealtime, walking, natural conversation slots.
- Conversation, not instruction. 50/50.
- Multiple conversation partners build rich language.
- Same activity at roughly the same time daily for 1–2 weeks builds skills faster than scattered attempts. Toddler learning compounds with repetition.
- Multiple adults playing, dadi, papa, mausi, adds variety. Toddler builds adaptability.
- Not standing-up Q&A. Sit facing toddler. 5 minutes of real back-and-forth.
- Open question. Listen fully. Don't multitask. Toddler senses real attention.
- Many Indian families have evening conversation at meal-time. Keep it warm, no judgement, no quizzing.
- Conversation skill = social skill = pre-school readiness. The single biggest predictor.
- Indian family dinners are conversation classrooms. Multi-generational chat builds toddler range.
- Dinner-table or chai-time. Phone away, eyes up. 10 minutes of real talk daily.
- Real interest, not interrogation. Tell me about works better than what did you.
- Conversation skill equals social skill equals pre-school readiness. The single biggest predictor.
If you ever go looking for activities for 3 year old evenings, remember the richest one is already in your home: a few unhurried minutes of talking with you. In the pauses where you truly listen, your child learns their voice matters. Yours is the conversation they will carry for life.
