15 Week Old Baby: Your Baby's Development and Your Recovery This Week
Your baby is 15 weeks old (4 months). Your baby is turning into a little chatterbox this week, just don't expect actual words yet. For you, fifteen weeks. Your body has had three solid months of healing. Here is your week, tracked.
Week 15
Your baby is 4 months old
Baby says this week
Around week 15, I may start rolling over, either from back-to-front or front-to-back. In the coming weeks, I'll likely master my rolls in one direction. As a safety precaution, make sure you never leave me alone on a bed or high surface.
Your Baby's Development

Your baby is turning into a little chatterbox this week, just don't expect actual words yet.
At around 3.5 months, your baby is starting to play with the basic sounds of speech. You'll hear cooing, gurgling, squeals and the first early babble, vowel-consonant combinations like "ah-goo" or "buh". Some babies do stumble onto "ma-ma" or "da-da" type sounds around now, but these are random babble, not real first words. True "mama" and "dada" with meaning usually arrive somewhere between 10 and 14 months, so don't start a countdown just yet.
Things that sometimes help- Talk back. When your baby makes a sound, copy it, then add a word. They're learning that a conversation has turns.
- Narrate your day. "Now we're changing your nappy. Cold wipe coming!" Your baby is soaking in every word.
- Sing. Any song, any tune. Your voice is their favourite sound in the world.
- Read even short board books. The rhythm matters more than the story at this age.
- Back to sleep, firm flat mattress, empty cot. Even now that your baby is more alert and wriggly, the basics of safe sleep don't change.
Really, every coo counts.
Hearing check worth flagging- If your baby does not startle at loud sounds, does not turn towards your voice from across the room, or stops babbling, flag at the next pediatrician visit.
- Many Indian families share a room, and that is fine for the first 6 months, in fact protective against SIDS. Keep your baby on their own firm flat surface (not in your bed), and a soft lori (lullaby) works the same magic in any home.
One day it is a squeal, the next a brand-new babble, and your home suddenly has its own tiny commentator. Sounds like these are sweet early steps toward 4 month old baby milestones, and it is your voice answering back that makes them bloom.
Your Health & Lifestyle

Fifteen weeks. Your body has had three solid months of healing. Time to start moving it on purpose.
Gentle exercise, Indian options that work
- A daily 20–30 minute walk in the park, ideally early morning or evening
- Postnatal yoga, many Indian instructors specialise in post-pregnancy practice; look for one trained in Iyengar, Sivananda, or Hatha post-natal sequences
- Swimming if you have access, gentle on joints
- No sit-ups, planks or heavy lifting yet, diastasis recti (a gap in the abdominal wall) is common after pregnancy and the wrong exercise widens it
Check your tummy gap before any core work
- Lie on your back, knees bent. Lift your head slightly. Press fingers above and below the belly button. If you feel a gap of 2 fingers or more, you have some diastasis. Avoid crunches, look for a pelvic-floor-and-core physiotherapist (now available in most Indian metros) or a post-natal yoga teacher.
Eat for the long haul, Indian basics
- Bajra and ragi rotis (iron, calcium), seasonal sabzi cooked with minimal oil, dal with hing and ajwain, curd, paneer, a fistful of soaked almonds. Add a vitamin D supplement if your gynae has tested low, almost every Indian woman is.
Worth flagging
- Pelvic pain, urinary leakage when you cough or sneeze, or a heavy/bulging feeling in the pelvis, talk to your gynae about a pelvic-floor referral. Untreated pelvic floor weakness can become long-term.
Indian-pelvic tradition
- Many Indian grandmothers recommend a "pet ki patti", a cotton cloth tied around the abdomen for support. Modern guidance: gentle support helps, but it should not be tight enough to press on the pelvic floor. A modern belly band, used loosely for 1–2 hours a day, gives the same comforting feeling.
Worth asking about
- Pelvic floor physiotherapy is increasingly available in Indian metros. If your gynae has not mentioned it and you have any concerns, ask for a referral.
Moving your body again is not about becoming who you were; it is about meeting who you have become. Slow walks and deep breaths count fully in postpartum recovery, so let the pace be yours and let it be unhurried.
Your Care Essentials

Around week 15, leg-gap leaks and tight belly marks tell you it's time to size up: Size M (7–11 kg). The right fit means dry nights, no laundry runs at 3am, and no red lines on the thighs. Try Mylo Baby Diapers Size M that:
- 12-Hour Dry, No Leg-Gap Leaks.
- Cotton-Soft, No Red Marks.
- Wetness Indicator Strip.
Sizing up is one of those quiet markers that your baby is thriving in your care. As you fold away the smaller packs, take a moment to notice how far the two of you have travelled since those first sleepless nights.

By week 15, your stretch marks have shifted from pink to silvery-white: the long fade phase. Daily massage with a cocoa-and-shea cream keeps the skin elastic while marks lighten. Cream over oil for daytime: absorbs faster, no greasy hands. Pregnancy-safe Indian skincare habit: soft, faint, daily. Try Mylo Stretch Marks Cream that:
- Cocoa Butter + Shea Daily.
- Lightens Silvery Stretch Marks.
- Cocoa & Shea, Daytime-Friendly.
Those silvery lines tell the story of the home your body once was. Be as gentle with yourself as you are with your baby; a quiet minute of cream and slow breathing can be your one small pause in a full house.
