110 Week Old Toddler: Your Toddler's Development and Your Recovery This Week
Your toddler is 110 weeks old (26 months). Your toddler wants to do it themselves, even when "it themselves" takes forty minutes. For you, around 25.5 months. The "do it myself" phase has matured. This week's activity is Self-Dress Practice, all of it tracked below.
Week 110
Your baby is 2 years 2 months old
Baby says this week
Even though you have made me learn to use these words like “Please” and “Thank you” as required, I sometimes forget to use them or use them in the wrong situations. I sometimes fumble while using some letters like (s, I, or Th). I do not like it when you ignore me and I am trying hard to get your attention. I start showing tantrums then no matter who's around me or at what place I am in. I just simply love to give physical affection to you and papa. I will return all those hugs and kisses whenever I will be getting them from you, Mummy. For me at this age joining just 2 words together forms a sentence and is enough for me to get the things done for instance- “more juice” or “my ball”.
Your Toddler's Development
2 min read
Your toddler wants to do it themselves, even when "it themselves" takes forty minutes.
At around 26 months, many toddlers can pull on a loose T-shirt, step into pants with a bit of help, and take socks off at speed. They can start telling colours apart (red and blue land first for most kids), match simple shapes, and point at a circle or square when you ask. Every single task is now followed by the word "why".
Things that sometimes help- Build in extra time for dressing. A toddler rushed is a toddler in tears on the floor.
- Loose, stretchy clothes for independent dressing practice. Zips and buttons can wait.
- When the "why" questions start, short honest answers work. "Why is the sky dark?", "The sun is on the other side of the earth now." Good enough.
- Some toddlers are chatty little questioners by 2, others hold their words close for a few more months. Both are usually fine. Mention to the doctor if your toddler: doesn't respond to their name, doesn't imitate words or actions at all, or has lost words they used to say.
The curiosity is a gift. Even when you are answering "why" for the fiftieth time before lunch.
Bilingual is normal- Many Indian homes speak two or three languages. Your toddler may mix Hindi-English-regional words in one sentence, that is healthy code-switching, not confusion. Keep talking in whichever language feels natural; fluency in all of them comes with time.
From wriggling into a T-shirt to sorting reds from blues, your child's toddler development is unfolding in a hundred small scenes a day, with you as the constant in every one. The fiftieth why before lunch is really their way of saying they trust you with their world.
Your Health & Lifestyle

Around 25.5 months. The "do it myself" phase has matured. Your toddler wants to dress, brush, eat, navigate the day independently.
What's happening for you
- Letting them try takes patience. A 5-minute task takes 20 minutes when toddler does it. The mess is real. The independence-building is worth it.
Things that often help
- Easy clothes, elasticated waists, slip-on shoes, big-buttoned tops
- Step stool by the basin so toddler can reach
- A small fork-and-spoon set
- A short routine: shoes, coat, water bottle (in that order, every time)
For mum's energy
- Don't redo the work in front of them. A wonky-folded napkin, a wrong-foot shoe, let it be unless it's safety. They learn from doing.
Eating well
- Three meals + two snacks. Indian basics, dal-chawal, paratha-curd, idli-sambhar, khichdi.
Worth flagging
- A toddler who is unusually stiff or unusually floppy with self-dressing, can't grip with both hands, or shows extreme frustration that escalates to harm, talk to the pediatrician. Most are normal range; some benefit from occupational therapy referrals.
Indian-context note
- In joint families, multiple adults sometimes step in to help too quickly, especially grandparents who find the slowness hard. A gentle conversation about letting toddler try first helps everyone.
Indian-context tip
- Indian families often have unspoken rhythms, chai at 4, dinner by 8, family Sundays. Working with these rhythms saves energy. Fighting them costs energy. Notice what works in your home and lean into it.
An Indian-context family balance tip
- If joint family logistics are heavy, a weekly 15-minute private chat with your partner, about division of work, finances, child-rearing decisions, your own state, keeps things from building up. Without it, small grievances become big resentments.
There is a quiet magic in watching those small hands insist on doing everything alone. Parenting a toddler asks you to slow down and wait, and that patience of yours is its own kind of love. One day these wonky buttons and wrong-foot shoes will be a memory you smile about.

Activity This Week: Self-Dress Practice

2 min read
Toddler tries to put on clothes themselves. By 25 months, toddler has strength to attempt. Will fail often, that's fine.
How to do itLay out simple clothes, a loose T-shirt, easy-on shorts. Let toddler try. Help only when asked or extreme frustration. Praise the trying.
What it builds- Self-care, fine motor, sequence skills, and independence.
- Indian-style loose kurta, easy elastic shorts, slip-on shoes, all easier for toddler to manage. Avoid buttons, zips, complicated fastenings yet.
- Persistent disinterest in any activity, or sudden loss of skills toddler had, both worth mentioning at the next pediatrician visit.
- Morning getting-ready slot is natural.
- Letting toddler take 10 min to put on a shirt builds independence. Rushing teaches helplessness.
- Multiple adults patient with toddler's slow dressing builds confidence.
- Same activity at roughly the same time daily for 1–2 weeks builds skills faster than scattered attempts. Toddler learning compounds with repetition. Indian-home rhythms support this naturally, pick a slot, stick to it.
- Multiple adults playing, dadi, papa, mausi, adds variety. Toddler builds adaptability through different voices, paces, and patience levels.
A shirt worn sideways with a proud grin is one of the sweetest 2 year old milestones you will ever witness. The minutes you wait, hands off and heart patient, are building a person who believes they can do things, and that belief starts with you.
