11 Week Old Baby: Your Baby's Development and Your Recovery This Week
Your baby is 11 weeks old (3 months). Your baby's hand-eye coordination is sharpening by the day. For you, eleven weeks in. Everyone has an opinion on how you should be raising your baby. Here is your week, tracked.
Week 11
Your baby is 3 months old
Baby says this week
I stay awake for longer periods of time now. I'm anxious to learn about my world, and I may not always be interested in your choice of game. If I turn my head and look away, I'm declaring I'm ready to move onto something else.
Your Baby's Development
2 min read
Your baby's hand-eye coordination is sharpening by the day.
You'll notice your baby swiping at dangly toys, trying to catch their own fingers, and, any day now, actually managing to grab something on purpose. Once they can reach, they can grab hair, earrings, glasses and hot cups of tea, so it's worth looking around the house now with fresh eyes.
Is baby feeding enough?- At around 11 weeks, most babies are taking roughly 700–900 ml of breast milk or formula across a 24-hour day, usually spread over 6–8 feeds. Six or more wet nappies a day and steady weight gain are the signs things are on track.
- You still have a little time before your baby is truly mobile, so use it. Move anything breakable or heavy off low tables. Check that TVs and tall furniture are anchored to the wall. Tuck wires out of reach. Check bath water with your wrist or elbow before putting your baby in, it should feel warm, not hot. If your geyser has a temperature setting, keep it on medium rather than maximum so bath water can't scald.
- Back to sleep, on a firm flat mattress, nothing loose in the cot. Room-sharing with your baby in their own sleep space is recommended for the first 6 months to lower the risk of sudden infant death (SIDS).
- A steady squint past 4 months, eyes that do not track moving things, a white reflection in flash photos, or pupils that do not react to light, get an eye check.
- Around 6–8 months, soft mashed daal-rice, ragi porridge, mashed banana or stewed apple are gentle starter foods. Add a small spoon of ghee for fat absorption. No salt, no sugar, no honey under 12 months.
Soon those little fingers will close around their first prize on purpose, and your earrings will never be safe again. Reaching and grabbing are 3 month old baby milestones with mischief built in, and watching them arrive is one of motherhood's quiet thrills.
Your Health & Lifestyle

Eleven weeks in. Everyone has an opinion on how you should be raising your baby. Most of them are not asked for.
Handling unsolicited advice, the Indian-family edition
- Joint family, neighbours, aunts at weddings, the lift uncle, advice arrives constantly. Some is rooted in genuine experience. Some is outdated or contradicts your pediatrician. All of it can be exhausting when you are running on 4 hours of broken sleep.
Things that often help
- "Thanks, I'll mention it to the pediatrician", closes a conversation without conflict.
- Have one or two trusted sources (your gynae, your pediatrician, one mum friend) and check anything significant against them.
- "We are doing it differently for now", short, polite, repeatable.
- Pick your battles. Some advice you can ignore; some you may need to firmly correct (cooled cow's milk for a 3-month-old, oil drops in baby's eyes, honey before 12 months, these are not safe).
Sleep is still chaos, mostly
- At 11 weeks, most babies are still feeding 2–3 times a night. A few sleep 4–5 hour stretches. Comparing to other people's babies is a fast track to misery.
Your turn
- A bedtime wind-down for YOU, not just the baby, is worth building. Phone away 30 minutes before sleep. A warm shower or oil massage on the feet. Soft music or silence. Sleep is the single biggest lever on your recovery and mood.
A short script that often helps
- "Thank you, we will check with the pediatrician." "We have decided differently for now." Repeat as needed.
A note for joint families
- If advice is coming from elders you live with, a private chat, between you, your partner and the elder, works better than public correction. Naming the doctor as the source softens the disagreement.
Protecting your peace from a flood of opinions is postpartum self care too, even if it never looks like a spa day. Your instincts have been studying this one baby around the clock; trust an expertise no visitor can match.
Picked for Your Journey

By week 11, you're stepping out for short walks, and mosquitoes are a real concern in Indian homes: open windows, evening swarms, dengue and chikungunya season. DEET-free citronella patches stick on the pram or clothes (not the skin) and last 8 hours. Try Mylo Mosquito Patches that:
- Citronella + Eucalyptus.
- 8-Hour DEET-Free Cover.
- Sticks On Clothes, Not Skin.
Those first short walks are small declarations that the world is yours again. Breathe the evening air, let your shoulders drop, and allow the outing to be for you as much as for the pram's little passenger.

Around week 11–12, many moms hit a supply dip: periods may try to return, baby cluster-feeds again, and you wonder if there's enough. Indian galactagogues (methi, shatavari, saunf, gond, ajwain) have helped lactating mothers for generations. A daily scoop in milk is a gentle nudge. Try Mylo LactoMama Granules that:
- Boosts Supply With Methi & Saunf.
- Shatavari + Gond Indian Blend.
- One Scoop In Milk, Once A Day.
A supply dip can rattle your confidence more than it rattles your baby. Trust the generations of mothers who walked this road before you, and be as patient with your body as you are with your little one; it has never stopped working for you both.
